This project comprised the installation of a central energy plant (CEP) to serve the existing building together with the new extension to the State Library of Queensland and the new Gallery of Modern Art (GOMA). Part of the CEP work involved the removal of existing cooling towers and replacement with a river water heat rejection system. Displacement air conditioning is used for gallery display areas. Passive chilled beams are used throughout the library in order to reduce energy consumption by 30%.
