
This building was initially known as the POEM Building (Paediatrics, Obstetrics, Emergency, Maternity) but was later renamed the Douglas Building, which also incorporated a severe burns unit. The design included a number of operating theatres, negative pressure isolation rooms, a particularly complex fire matrix and a zone smoke control system.
